How can shamanism benefit me?

Many people suffer from chronic ailments that medical science is unable to cure or even ease. Many chronic diseases are actually spiritual ail ments that have been around so long or grown so severe that they manifest in the physical body.

Often spiritual work is all that is needed to initiate healing. Sometimes the physical body has been so affected that medical treatment is also needed. But if the cause is spiritual, then the ailment has no chance of being healed until the cause is dealt with.

Often the reason we have a certain health issue is because there is a lesson we need to learn. Establishing or reestablishing connection with our helper spirits and guides can go a long way in any person's healing. Being able to communicate with one's helper spirits and learn the reason for pain, illness, or distress can help move one out of a cycle of ill health and into a greater understanding of themselves and the spirit world.

Taking action in and responsibility for our own healing is very important to our healing quest. Once we understand "I have a part in this" we can take that first big step toward becoming whole. It is important to note, however, that having a part in the ailment and our healing of it is entirely diffe rent from "deserving" the pain or illness we have. We never "deserve" the disorder. But often the ailment has something to tell us about honoring and taking care of ourselves. Too many people give away too much of themselves. Self care is vital to our spiritual health as well as our physical health. Acknowledging "I have a part in this" and recognizing the potential for learning that Spirit has provided us with is a key part of becoming whole.

Taking the first step in one's healing process can seem like an impossible task. Many people don't know where to begin. This is why often the most beneficial thing to do when initiating your healing is to seek help from others. According to shamanic beliefs, the mere act of one person working on another's behalf incites the interest of the spirits, and they become more inclined to assist in the healing.

Soul retrieval and extraction are some of the more common types of shamanic healing utilized by Western shamanic practitioners today. Soul loss and intrusions cause a person to be out of balance and unable to heal. It is necessary to reestablish the balance to make a person power-ful again: filled with their own power, whole and comple te and healthy.

Chronic depression is often a sign of soul loss. A person who feels empty or incomplete, as though a part of them were missing, may be right. Soul loss is responsible for many of the chronic problems in our society. Depression, addiction, memory loss and chronic fatigue are only some of the signs of soul loss. After a soul retrieval many people report feeling lighter, having more energy, greater happiness, lessened desire towards addictive behaviors, and countless other benefits.

Intrusions are another common problem. Intrusions can cause pain, illness, and chronic complaints. Extracting energy harmful to the body can help heal these. Chronic pain or illness may be the result of an intrusion. An intrusion is foreign energy that has found a home in a person, and can cause dis-ease until it is removed.

While I want to help people as much as I can, it is very important that everyone is able to work on their own healing as much as possible. One of my goals as a shamanic practitioner is to help people contact and communicate with their own spirit helpers and so continue their healing on their own for as long as they need to.

I provide guidance and support for people who are searching, and allow them room to discover their own path. I help them with their spiritual health in whatever way I can, be it shamanic, energetic, or otherwise. The services I provide are only a step in your journey to wholeness. That is a journey everyone makes on their own.

In my own quest I have learned that while I often need the help of others to initiate my own healing, the connection I have with my spirit helpers goes a long way towards keeping me healthy and being aware of any growing disease. But the important part is keeping up that communication, because when I become negligent ab out my spiritual work I get definite physical repercussions. See Personal Experiences

Disclaimer -  This is by no means suggesting that one forgo medical treatment. Shamanism and other spiritual treatment works well with and will not interfere with medical treatment. But often a disease or ailment has a spiritual origin, and so must be treated spiritually.
